Cedar Lakes Estate is in Port Jervis, NY. Ever since I got engaged 3 years ago, I have known about this
place as it is a popular wedding venue which fits my enchanted forest twilight vision. While we won’t be
getting married here, I am fortunate we got to have a charming romantic winter getaway here for a few
days.
What makes booking a stay here different than a typical hotel is you are getting a full experience. Cedar
Lakes Estate sits on 500 acres and now if you visit in the colder months it is a winter wonderland playground. They have so many cottages to choose from and we were in love with the BlueBird Cottage. The cottage has a cozy modern
feel to it which included a full kitchen and our own fire place! My favorite part of the room had to be the
heated stone floor though.
In addition to the cottages on property there are a number of venues and spaces for different activities.
There is a movie night in the barn, an ice rink, snacks and a bar in the TreeHouse. We took a cooking class
where I made the best apple crostata of my life! We also took a Bob Ross painting class and I felt like a
kid again (minus the fact that I was sipping on wine). The sunsets here are not to be missed and they
have a sunset experience with smores, rum apple cider, and a fire pit to keep you warm and toasty. We
even had a dinner on the ice rink.
All meals are included in your resort fee and I have to say, I was VERY impressed. I know they believe in
everything from scratch with a farm to table philosophy. I loved the avocado toast and pancakes for
breakfast. For lunch they offer a picnic lunch which you can take to eat anywhere on property. I am still
thinking about the ham and cheese sandwich they had. Forget every ham and cheese sandwich you ate
as a child (ok I grew up in a Kosher house so I didn’t) but I still have had my fair share over the last decade or so and just every
ingredient down the last detail was superb. The bread was fresh and crispy on the outside, yet had a
thin fluffy layer on the inside. The ham, mustard and brie cheese sandwiched in the middle just made
the perfect marriage. I joked in my stories on Instagram how I just couldn’t stop talking about this
sandwich and as you can see, I still can’t.
Dinner was a pre-fix which I typically don’t care for because I like to choose from a number of options.
However, I understand it from their standpoint as it’s a good way to reduce food waste. I also can safely
say, after eating all the food – it didn’t matter to me because I knew I was going to get an all-star meal.
The food here is top notch.
I have to say Cedar Lakes Estate lived up to the hype. It’s a truly beautiful place to be and the experience
they have created for their guest is one that feels personal and magical.
A huge added bonus was that we got our first snowfall while we were there — and got some great drone shots as well – check em out along with video below 🙂
